Early Years

St Edward's College being a private, independent school, offering an authentic and exciting Early Years curriculum with individual attention to both boys and girls starting from the age of two to four (Nursery, KG1 and KG2) and all-boys from age five to six (Year 1 and Year 2).

Housed within the spacious grounds of St Edward's College, our purpose-built kindergarten provides bright, colourful classrooms as well as its own safe, stimulating playing area consisting of a turfed lawn and climbing frames.

Over a three-year period children learn various skills through well-planned play-activities which encourage them to be active and inquisitive problem-solvers who gain confidence in their abilities and as a result become motivated to learn.

We provide a broad balanced curriculum in which storytelling, sensory play, messy play and role play are an integral part of each day. The kindergarten children make use of the well-equipped gym and outdoor area.

Music, craft, baking and walks around the extensive grounds are also a regular part of the programme which is complemented by outings to various places of interest as well as in-school visits. The children are also given opportunities to develop self-confidence by displaying their skills to relatives during Sports Festival Mornings and concerts.

At St Edward's, we do not just aim for academic achievement - we help each child develop their personal and social skills which, we believe, are the foundations for future learning. Through our authentic curriculum, our children acquire all the necessary skills and attitudes to develop a firm foundation upon which their future schooling at St Edward's College and beyond can be built.
